Racy, Harmonious, Rich       Outstanding (93)

The last Vintage Port review was published was nearly a decade ago, covering the 1983s and 1985s. Since then, there have been some excellent to outstanding single quinta Ports from 1987 and 1990, but not brodly declared vintage until 1991 and 1992.

The debate over which vintages is better continues. Some favor 1991 for its vivid flavours and racy structures. The 1991s are wonderful and classy, with superbe balance, harmonious wine, with superb fruit concentration, best vintages from this year are Fonseca-Guimaraens, Graham's Taylor's Quinta de Vargella's, Gould Campbell, Quinta do Infantado "Touriga Nacional".

Concentrated, Tannic, Fruity                                      Outstanding (94)
1992 appears to be a sensational Vintage. Ironically, the pamed for lodges of Graham's, Dow's, Croft, Cockburn, Warre's, and Quinta do Noval all declared 1991 a vintage thus preeluding the possibility of 1992 being a vintage year for these firms.

Taylor's and Fonseca produced two of the most profound young Ports. The 1992 is a fabolous year, stylestivally, the 1992s tend to resemble the 1985s, more than the stermen, more closed and backwand 1977s.

Superlative Structure, Fabolous Harmony                                            Classic (99)
The 1994 vintage is the greatest for Port since the legendary 1945. The weather in 1994 was nearly perfect, producing a relatively small amount of wonderful grapes, The fermentations produced dark, aromatic and fabulously structured Ports. Every wine lover or collector who enjoys the sweet, rich flavours of this fabulous fortified wine should have some of 94 Vintage.

Fonseca, Taylor, Quinta do Noval Nacional are the great winners from 1994, they scored 100 points.
