Warre´s

The foundation of Warre's Port
The Oldest British Port Company
1670

In This year, Charles II was on the throne of England. Indeed the famous Hudson Bay Trading Company was incorporated by his Royal Charter in 1670.
Across the Atlantic just six years earlier, in 1664, a British expeditionary force captured the town of New Amstandam - now known, of course, as New York.
Then in 1665, the great Plague struck England, 68,000 Londoners died. A year later, the great fire destroyed their city. Also, Newton discovered the law of gravity.

In Portugal, only four years later in 1670, the first of the great British Port Houses - that of Warre & Co - was founded, more than a century before Captain CooK landed in Australia and the American Declaration of Independence.
Since then, Warre & Co has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the foremost producers of this, the King of wines.
